Indeed, the history of the world fame Bikaneri Bhujia is the history of Bhikaram Chandmal. The group started manufacturing Bhujia as long as 125 years ago as a small-scale industry in the erstwhile state of Bikaner, in the heart of "Thar Desert". It was started by late Tansukhdas Agarwal. He used to manufacture BARI (a local home made dry vegetable) manufactured by Moth Dal (Kidney beans) flour. Once, when he fried these BARI in frying pan, he found it very tasty. He named this new product BHUJIA that means 'fried product'. Thus, he invented the new product, which is now world fame.
His son Bhikharam and grandson Chandamal joined him in his business. They improved the quality of Bhujia. The father and son duo got patronage from the Maharaja of Bikaner and were also awarded suitably. Bhujia became more popular as it was included in the list of favorite snack food in the Darbar of Bikaner.
A city surrounded by sand dunes in the heart of the “Thar Desert” can offer only hostile climate and crispiness in the form of sand particles. There, a man visualized creating something new, which can make Bikaner popular the world over. This new thing has inheritance of crispiness, that adds to its splendor. Today, Bhikharam Chandmal is a household name wherever Bhujia and namkeen are used. First inventor and now the pioneer - BRCM has achieved this position just because of its quality, hard work, workmanship and a zeal to provide its customer the best of breed of in the field of eatables.
The group has three manufacturing units in Bikaner with varied prospects at each unit. These units are located at different places in Bikaner.
